Excel" ซึ่งปัจจุบันได้พัฒนามาเป็นรุ่น (Version) 2003
ที่รู้จักกันอย่างแพร่หลายในชื่อโปรแกรม "Microsoft Excel

โปรแกรมลักษณะกระดาษทดอิเล็กทรอนิกส์
เป็นโปรแกรมที่ช่วยในด้านการคำนวณ โดยอาศัยตารางการคำนวณในลักษณะที่เป็นช่องๆ
ที่เรียกว่า "เซลล์ - Cell" คล้ายๆ กับการคำนวณผ่านกระดาษทำการ

นอกจากนี้
ยังสามารถนำ Excel มาประยุกต์ใช้กับงานอื่นๆ ได้ เช่น การวิเคราะห์ต้นทุน
งานฐานข้อมูล หรืองานโปรแกรมมิ่งเกี่ยวกับตัวเลข เป็นต้น

This version features product activation technology (i.e.,

this before deciding whether to upgrade.

Currently
in beta. It will be call Microsoft Office Excel 2003.
According to early reviews, the new features in this version
will be: (a) improved support for XML, (b) a new "list
range" feature, (c) Smart Tag enhancements, and (d)
corrected statistical functions. Most users will not find
the upgrade worthwhile. |

There is no Excel 6. Beginning with Excel 7, the version numbering
was changed so all of the Microsoft Office applications would
have the same version number.
