Human Resource Development
IT applications are widely accepted as instruments for various sectors of social and economic development. Qualified manpower in this field is thus increasingly needed in the country. To support the IT human resource development, NECTEC has undertaken three main projects as follows:
1. IT Professional Development
IT Human Resource Development Center has been set up to be responsible for supporting the use of IT in learning process to strengthen the community capability; for expanding learning network of people and communities through IT; and for developing a life-long learning process. In addition, NECTEC has arranged IT Certification Forums to urge the awareness of IT professional standards and certification in the country.

2. SchoolNet Thailand Project
SchoolNet Thailand is a pilot infrastructure project aimed to link 5,000 schools nationwide to the Internet. Its objective is to use ICT to improve the quality of education for Thai youths and to reduce the gap of opportunity to access through good education between urban and rural areas. This project serves as a mechanism to support the Governmentีs education reform in accordance with the National Education Act B.E. 2542

3. New Generation Researchers Development
To promote and encourage the young generation to have more interest in IT, NECTEC has initiated four activities all of which the main objective is to create new generation researchers in the country. These activities are as follows:

3.1 Young Scientist Competition in Computer Science and Engineering Project (YSC.CS & YSC.EN)
The project aims to build and develop science and technology capacity and standards of Thai secondary students in the country. The activities urge and support students to perform their abilities in computer and engineering by submitting their creative projects to the competition. The qualified students shall be selected as representatives of Thailand to participate in the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair, an international competition organized in the U.S.A.

3.2 NECTEC e-Camp
NECTEC, in association with over 20 leading universities nationwide, has organized the NECTEC e-Camp Project with the main purpose of supporting the development of secondary studentsี skills in designing and assembling electronic circuit. The participating students will learn basic technology of electronic circuit, and designing, and some techniques applicable in the real circumstances.

3.3 The National Software Contest

To support and facilitate software development among the new generation in Thailand, NECTEC creates a project aimed to build studentsี skills and practices in computer software applications and development. This is also to inspire and encourage students to become professional researchers in the future.

3.4 NECTEC Linux Installation Competition
NECTEC Linux Installation Competition was initially arranged by NECTEC in 2001. Its objectives are to enhance knowledge on Linux installation and implementation at a low cost, as well as to set a stage for testing and developing knowledge of Linux program, server technology, and installation methods for secondary students and also general public.
