IT for Education, Computer Network for Thai Schools and SchoolNet
Thailand have been established and operated since 1995. These projects
connect schools in Thailand via the Internet Technology, This is to
enable teachers, students and schools to access the global Internet
information service as well as using this useful tool as a source
of knowledge and education and exchanging the news, knowledge and
intellectual activities on network. Then, on 5th October 1999, the
Cabinet of the Government had an agreement on expanding the network
to cover the 5,000 primary, secondary and vocational schools nationwide.
Each fully equipped school will be able to connect to the Internet
via the granted dialing number 1509 by His Majesty the King for 3
baht charge/access.
To support and facilitate
the teachers and students’skills, NECTEC has cooperated with other
related sections in arranging activities for these schools which
are
Network Service
for the schools in the project and Helpdesk service for answering
and solving problems regarding to the Internet use.
On-network Activities
such as creation the project web site to be a center for exchanging
and learning all news and information that will be useful for schools
teachers, instructors. Students and other web visitors. It is also
a source of related links from all regional schools (http://www.school.net.th).
In addition, there are activities for youth such as Quiz Game, weekly
digital library for youth, SchoolNet & ThaiBikeWorld Project
(http://www.school.net.th/thaibikeworld) and an International Activities
support such as GLOBE, ThinkQuest.
Course and Lesson
Development for Teachers and Students. Digital Library Project has
been developed to build up the content for Thai Schools network.
Digital Library Toolkit Project enables the students to easily create
a Web Page. “Web Site for Education Contest for Teachers and Students”
is a project in association with the Department of Curriculum and
Instruction Development and the Office of the National Education
Commission. “Digital Library Development Project by schools under
the supervision of the Department of General Education” is a project
in association with the Department of General Education.
Knowledge Seminar
and Workshop such as “Open a new World with SchoolNet@1509: Travel
to 13 Educational Region” Seminar, Knowledge Seminar and “Internet
Exhibition for the schools in 5 regions”
Personnel Development.
Schoolnet Volunteer Project has been developed to build up the Technical
Consulting Quality and to help the schools in the project in various
