National Information Technology Committee Secretariat
In addition to research and development work, from March 1992 to January
2003, NECTEC was appointed as the National Information Technology
Committee (NITC) Secretariat to be responsible for supporting the
operations of the NITC currently chaired by the Prime Minister.
As the Secretariat office of the NITC, NECTEC has
taken major roles to initiate and devise policies and measures relating
to IT that benefit national development. NECTEC also coordinated
among NITC and its Sub-Committees, carried out policy research related
to NITCีs missions, and disseminated information and knowledge on
IT. In January 2003, NITC Secretariat's duty was transferred to
the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology.
2. IT Legal Infrastructure Development
Five draft laws related to IT development have been completed. Two
of the laws have been approved by the parliament in December 2001,
when the Electronic Transactions Act went into force. Other laws
are in progress. The project was transferred to the Ministry of
Information and Communications Technology in October 2003.
3. SchoolNet Thailand
The project has accomplished its objectives. The Ministry of Education
will continue the implementation of SchoolNet Thailand with all
schools nationwide in September 2003.

Electronic Commerce Resource Center (ECRC)
The Electronic Commerce Resource Center has been completed in the
fiscal year of 2003. Its work is in the process of transfer to the
related Ministries: Ministry of Commerce; Ministry of Information
and Communications Technology; and Ministry of Education as per
the specific roles of each Ministry.
